J'aime Les Filles, these in particular

Allo allo. Been a bit, I know. Summer got away from me, working this new job, etc etc, in summation - I'm an ass. Of the 11 people who put money in this jukebox it's likely 3 of you are left, 1 of whom is probably my mother who feels maternally obligated and huffs disapprovingly when I use foul language.

I could grin sheepishly and scuff my toe for another hour, but what's that really gonna do, eh? I'm just gonna look you full on in the face, tell you I've missed your company, and drop in a quarter. Let's listen for a bit then catch up on life.

You look good, you really do.

Le Loup

Everybody likes a hometown team. Though I can't entirely claim DC as my own, I'm of the camp that if you can get there in less than two hours, consider your satellite closet to be in Reston and have been lost on the Geo Wash Parkway at least once - you're nearly a townie.

Other reasons I have warm-n-fuzzies for this gaggle of multi-instrumentalists:
- I've had a photo-op on the DC Zoo sign, too!
- I like to put "Le" in front of everything! (re: i am le tired)
- Sounds like - animal collective+yeasayer+fleet foxes!

Coming off the quintessential bedroom recordings of founder, Sam Simkoff - Le Loup started layering glistening leaves of le banjo, piano, guitar, perpetual percussion and dryersheet light vocals in '06. The revamped boudoir tracks, le inspired by Dante's Inferno, made for a debut teeming with ambient loops. Sophmore effort, "Family," departs the synth of their brief youth for a more mature audio richness and reverb vocals that taste of Robin Pecknold. That is, if you're of the camp that you've licked Robin Pecknold.
You're an odd bird, aren't you?

p.s. you just read the le 200th ES post in history - YOU WON YOU WON

Translation: These guys aren’t even French. They’re a bunch of jokers from New York, save the singer who’s Swiss-German. It’s faux-French rock and it’s none of the rage. But it’s pretty cool. Ménagerie, their latest, could easily be the soundtrack to a French drive-in in the 60s. I picked the one song that doesn’t sound like the rest since that’s what I do. If you’re looking to shake your ass, buy the rest of the album.
